Accessibility: not compliant
Digital accessibility statement
This page outlines our commitments to digital accessibility and defines the level of compliance of this website with current regulations and standards.
What is digital accessibility?
Digital accessibility is a set of standards and best practices covering functional, graphic, technical and editorial aspects.
Digital media (websites, mobile applications, PDF files, etc.) must adhere to particular standards and best practices in order to be accessible by people with disabilities.
For example, an accessible website allows users to:
- Customize its display via the operating system and/or browser (enlarge or shrink characters, change typography, modify colors, turn off animations, etc.).
- Browse using assistive technologies such as text-to-speech or Braille.
- Navigate without having to use a mouse, just a keyboard, switches or a touchscreen.
- Watch videos and audio content with subtitles and/or transcriptions.
- And more.
Digital accessibility commitments
TotalEnergies is committed to ensuring that its websites (internet, intranet, and extranet), mobile applications, software packages, and digital street furniture are accessible in accordance with Article 47 of Law No. 2005-102 of February 11, 2005, and European requirements.
To achieve this, it implements the following strategy and actions:
This site was developed using the TotalEnergies website factory, which enables the creation of multiple sites based on a shared structure and common components.
To ensure the best possible results, accessibility was integrated throughout the development process by teams responsible for functional and graphic design, as well as development.
Additionally, contributors to sites created with this website factory have received training on content accessibility. This is complemented by built-in input assistance within the back office and guidelines provided by the Webroom teams.
Declaration of partial compliance with the RGAA
This declaration applies to the Demonstration site: https://twf4b-demo.totalenergies.com/
Compliance status
The website factory and its various components are partially compliant with the RGAA (Référentiel Général d’Amélioration de l’Accessibilité) - version 4.1.2, due to the non-conformities listed below.
Test results
The RGAA 4.1.2 compliance audit, conducted in December 2024 by Ideance, revealed the following results for the tested sample:
- Overall compliance rate: 83.1% (calculated by dividing the number of compliant criteria by the number of applicable criteria).
- Average compliance rate: 96.3% (calculated as the average compliance rate across all tested pages).
These rates are based on demonstration content where accessibility has been considered. However, sites derived from this website factory may not achieve the same results, depending on how well accessibility best practices are applied to their content.
Non-accessible content
Non-conformities
List of non-compliant criteria:
- 2.2 - Google Recaptcha iframes are titled "Recaptcha," which lacks specificity regarding their function and scope.
- 3.3 - The contrast between certain interface components or graphical elements containing information and the background color is insufficient.
- 6.1 - Some links are not explicit.
- 7.1 - Certain scripts are not compatible with assistive technologies.
- 8.6 - Some page titles are not relevant.
- 8.7 - Some language changes are not indicated.
- 10.1 - Some style sheets are not used to control the presentation.
- 10.7 - The focus indicator on interactive elements is not visible.
- 10.8 - Some hidden content should not be ignored by assistive technologies.
- 10.11 - Some content cannot be displayed without horizontal scrolling in a 320px-wide window.
- 10.13 - Additional content appearing when focusing or hovering over an interface component cannot be controlled.
- 11.13 - The purpose of certain input fields cannot be deduced, preventing automatic user data filling.
- 12.6 - Content grouping areas across multiple pages (header, main navigation, main content, footer, and search engine) cannot be accessed or skipped.
- 12.8 - The tab order is inconsistent.
Content exempt from accessibility obligations
The “Tealium” cookie manager and the “Recaptcha Google” anti-spam tool have been exempted. They have therefore not been subject to a full and detailed audit.
However, their presence has been verified to ensure they do not impede the usability or accessibility of the rest of the site.
Additional remarks
Validity of the generated source code
The generated source code of the website pages does not fully comply with the specified document type.
However, for the reasons outlined below, RGAA criterion 8.2 has been marked as compliant.
Officially, WCAG criterion 4.1.1, which corresponds to RGAA criterion 8.2, has been removed from WCAG 2.2 and is considered automatically satisfied under WCAG 2.1 and the European standard EN 301 549.
In practice, this criterion no longer provides direct accessibility benefits for users with disabilities. Any accessibility issues resulting from non-compliant source code are covered by other RGAA criteria.
