AFA Zone delegates visit Total Zimbabwe
From the 23rd to the 25th of April, Total Zimbabwe was graced with the presence of the Chairman of the AFA Zone Mr. Pierre Yves Sachet and his two deputies Phumzile Mohlakoana and Dennis Cuaycong as well as the various Managing Directors and esteemed guests from the AFA Zone. They were all welcomed by the host Managing Director of Total Zimbabwe, Mr. Ronan Bescond.
In a packed programme, the guests started their Thursday morning off with a team building exercise at Total Emerald Hill service station in Harare. The AFA Zone members started off with a safety talk from territory manager, Claire Simango and then had a brief tour of the station. Upon completing the tour, the members were spilt into five teams named after Africa’s Big Five (Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Rhino and Elephant.) During the quiz, they were asked to answer various questions which populated interesting answers.
Straight after the quiz, the teams were educated about the use of various payment methods used in Zimbabwe, of note was the mobile money transfer facility. The information they learnt in this exercise would be very useful for the activity to come. Once grasped, the teams took it to the forecourt!
The teams were challenged to fuel cars, wipe widescreens, transact payments, check under the bonnet, upsell lubricants and wave at the clients which came in. The esteemed fuel attendants worked with zeal to ensure that the clients were satisfied and happy. This activity also gave them great fulfilment and the Lion team won the overall competition.
After their team building, the AFA Zone members went back to the TTA were a staff engagement seminar was conducted. A guest speaker Professor Ashok Chakravati, a seasoned Zimbabwean economist, spoke about the current situation in Zimbabwe and left the staff with a clear message that “there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Thereafter, Mr. Pierre Yves Sachet spoke about the work happening in the group and Total staff from Zimbabwe asked all the questions which they needed to be clarified.
Total Zimbabwe MD, Mr. Ronan Bescond closed the session by encouraging staff to remain vigilant while working and to be focused on achieving all set objectives.
In the evening, the AFA Zone members were invited to a cocktail event where they met with various stakeholders of Total Zimbabwe whilst they were serenaded by music from a solo guitarist.
